As a responsible manufacturer of connection technology, Katlax develops and tests products so that you can have your devices approved for use internationally. The Underwriter Laboratories (UL) recognize/listing connectors as individual components (UL 2238). In the end application, components undergo final evaluation and are approved together with the device.

Katlax has already initiated the project under UL 2238 for connectors and under Subject 767 Wiring Harness UL Traceability Program for wiring harness.

UL is a leader in testing, inspection, certification of products and ensures that the product meets their safety standard.  The UL Certification Mark on an item identifies that representative samples of that item were tested by UL and met its strict standards.

Know the markings

When a product is “Listed” it means that UL has tested a sample of the product and determined the product meets a specific set of requirements based on UL’s published standards.

A product is “Recognized” when the UL has evaluated a component or material to be used in a complete product or system. The components can only be intended for product that is an “end-use product” in order to be eligible.

UL “Classified” means the UL has tested and evaluated a product sample in regard to specific properties of the product. A product can be classified to applicable UL requirements or standards of other organizations.

UL 2238 – Industrial Control and Signal Connection

With a more targeted focus, UL 2238, the Standard for Cable Assemblies and Fittings for Industrial Control and Signal Distribution, is applicable when connectors will be used in an industrial environment to distribute the control signals to remote proximity switches or other power circuit device applications. These connectors are installed in or with industrial machinery equipment and may also be certified for field wiring. Industrial machinery of this nature is usually very complex, and it can be found in food and beverage packaging and other automated equipment applications.

Wiring Harness UL Traceability Program

The Wiring Harness UL Traceability Program allows manufacturers of finished goods to accept wiring harnesses manufactured off site or at a third party. Maintaining supply chain integrity while adhering to end user sourcing requirements is the key. UL offers a traceability program that determines
